It seems I can't update my review and the photo's and video didn't attach. I did a drop test showing neither broke in either resin.
I previously left a review regarding the V1 resin at 2 stars, this is a update regarding the V3 resin. First of all across the board, these guys are super cool. Customer service is awesome. I was sent a free test sample of V1 quite a few months ago, and after my review they sent another free bottle of V3, which they absolutely didn't have to. I didn't have time to test it until recently so I do apologize to you guys for the delay. Bonus points there. I'm going to start with the negatives, because while this has improved, the negatives are extremely important.
Cons: Duely note, this is in regards to V3, I hear they've reworked the recipe, but turns out whatever they are using this time around, I'm allergic to. Being in the same room as it open makes my eyes burns. Current sale cost puts this down to a reasonable cost, but it is still expensive. Lastly, the smell is improved, but it is still offensive to the nose. It's much more tolerable, but even my setup it's overwhelming so needed to setup an extra fan out a window to clear the smell out of the room.
Pros: Frankly pitting this against my main resin, it's very on par. Price wise Hero is much more expensive KG wise. The quality is very on point, I don't have a preference of one over the other in that regards. V3 is extremely watery, which personally I like because it makes it easier to clean up and filter, but that may be a negative for some, personally that's a plus. The smell is completely gone after it's been alcoholed and UV cured thankful, as well as any allergic reactions don't arise so that's good.
All in all:
I stand by what I said in my 2 star review, even if I don't use this resin as my main line, I do want to see this company succeed, more US based printing companies only benefits us. Regardless of if it's materials, printers, or other things. Absolutely stand by their customer service, again my apologies for the almost 5 months it took me to getting around to testing the new bottle you sent me. Life happens
I got the 16KG job lot of the Hero HD Sienna and as you can see in the picture...have printed a bit. I did have some issues during the summer and it might not be optimal for high temperatures, but everything is settled down with barely any fails that aren't driven by support issues (2.7S exposure on a Saturn 4 Ultra)
The stuff is tough like vinyl in that a larger piece would need to be ripped or ground apart - it won't just snap as it has a fiber like structure. Only the really glaringly frail pieces require any concern, but garden-variety delicates items will bend more than snap, so figures carrying rapiers or wands or 28mm figures do very well in this resin without being coddled.
For example, these wolf clan goblins are quire frail (https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-warriors-wolf-clan-goblins-315261), but they're also really light, so you can drop them on the floor, bend the weapon heads, etc. It takes a more extreme design to get durability issues, like when I printed this figure at 70% scale and had issues with the bow, but I don't think there's any resin that could handle that.(https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-lady-of-the-grove-235428). Some figures you'd probably need to bang with a hammer to destroy and even, they'd flatten out rather than shatter into lots of pieces, so it's a 10/10 on durability.
I won't even mention detail as I think all resin is about the same (when it works), but one other nice point for me with Hero HD is that it seems to be low itch. This is a big deal for me. I really hated getting ANY Siraya Tech ABS like on my skin as the itch was just really sharp and intense. This stuff is about 20% the intensity of that, being much milder and low grade. Odor is probably a bit less too, though I'm not sure.
So, the downside is really just that you need to buy 16KGs of the stuff to get it at a decent price, but you get an ultra-durable American made product. From a shop perspective, the durability is big as I don't have much concern with damaging the figures during the post processing phase and then I can tell the customer about sourcing from an American small business, etc.
And tenth itch issue...so yeah, I'm definitely going to keep using this stuff.
So I've a lot to unpack here, first and foremost I want to clarify I got my bottle for free, and while the end results look fantastic, this was a journey.
I'll start this with I believe I got a bad bottle, this materials pigment settles so fast it'll do so while actively printing, during testing by the end of a two hour print the entire vat of a 9 inch printer was completely settled on the bottom. While this doesn't have appeared to impact longer prints that much, it does leave the remaining resin with less pigment.
On to a good thing, advertised times while always vary, are close enough to use test to dial in further, I'd no issues there. As you can see this print is fantastic, ignore the damage on the back, that was my fault. Material is pretty sturdy, doesn't bend much and survives some solid abuse, I wanted to test more before reviewing but I'm pretty much out at this point (the waist of the mech is a different resin but with shadows blends in fine)
Back into the bad but less factual and more opinionated than anything. I'm going to start with the smell, this is probably the third most offensive resin I've used smell wise, the plus side is it's not in the final product and it's VERY localized, but it's awful. Even being 5' away in the same room and it's usually fine, but it's unpleasant to work with. The post processing is fine, but I do have a much higher preference for resins that only require a alcohol soak, UV after cure resins are pretty easy to over cure after and make them more brittle, but I haven't had any issues here with this so I suspect if you handle it right it's fine.
The final point I want to address is the price, for the amount you're getting for $80 and the quality I'm not sure it actually holds up against anything else. It is nice, don't get me wrong, but considering the other issues I can not recommend this material at the current time. However I have heard they're working on new recipes so I do recommend keeping up with their socials if you're interested, as one of the only US based resin companies I do want to see them succeed so don't entirely discredit them.

Thank you for your honest review (feels like a 3 star, but i wont nit-pick :-) - due to your experience i would actually like to send you another bottle at no cost to try the latest variant. (V3) - I assume you received the V1 material during our initial testing phase and based on all that feedback we made some significant improvements. We are now on V3, and if you are willing id be happy to see if we can improve these stars a bit. You were not the only user to notice a need to improve the pigment settling and smell. The smell is a hard one because some people are more sensitive to certain monomers than others, regardless we did address that. You should notice the most improvement in the settling, we made significant strides in improving the settling issue without sacrificing the surface finish - (note, we needed to slow the material down just a tad so you may need to recalibrate, we also added a bit of flex for table top miniatures) regarding settling, We tested v3 with three consecutive plates printed over three days without any mixing or adding of fresh material - with this test we noticed no change in print quality, color, or settings. Regarding price, there isn't much we can do about that other than offer excellent quality and customer service and we certainly strive to do. I understand our products aren't for everyone and we do our best to offer bulk options and product options to suit most all users. I learned of this resin through being a supporter of TItanCraft and thought I'd take a chance on it. I have been printing with resin for a few years, currently with a Creality Halot One Plus, and have switched almost exclusively to Ameralabs TGM-7 for tabletop miniatures at this point, so my review is influenced by the comparison between the two. Overall, I like this resin but I'm not certain if I would make a full switch just yet.
The first thing I noticed when I opened the bottle was a significantly stronger resin odor than TGM. While I know that low-odor does not mean no VOCs, it was a but off-putting at first. That being said, I don't think it's any worse than most other brands, so if you are printing regularly with typical resin, you should already be prepared for this. Second, as one other reviewer mentioned, the odor does carry over slightly to the finished models after washing and curing.
I did also notice more layer lines overall, and some odd details in models printed with this resin compared to Ameralabs. Features like shoulder spikes did not form as well, but some of the detailing on the trunk of the model was sharper. I believe this is due in part to my post-processing, as well; after washing this resin, it is still soft and details can be damaged while removing supports, which can also be said for TGM-7. However, something else I noticed is that it gets incredibly tacky if it sits too long between washing and curing, and can pick up the texture from my gloves or stick hard enough to cause damage to the model.
All of this being said, the final models are INCREDIBLY durable! Dropping from standing and from table-height has not resulted in any damage, and while it is possible to forcibly break weak spots of models (wrists, etc.) with effort, limbs and accesories flex well and reset with no noticeable issues.
I really like the potential HERO HD has for producing the most durable models, and I do plan to experiment more with print settings and post-processing (I have ordered completely fresh IPA to see if that is a problem on my end). With Ameralabs being a bit pricier, this could be a good alternative for those with a tighter budget.
This resin was awesome! I had been using a generic brand of resin and started to question my decision to start 3D printing. I switched resins out for this Hero Resin and immediately saw the difference in quality. My prints were stronger and had more detail. This resin is great and now I am trying to get as much printed as I can. Highly recommend!
While my experience with the rein wasn't fully negative, I don't know if I can suggest it compared to the price. Let me explain. First just a little info, I've been resin printing for a little over 7 years now and have tried resins at all different price ranges and types.
I really like the flexibility and overall durability of the resin. For someone who has kids and friends that often drop things, that is a very big plus. It also seemed to cure very well at each layer.
However, doing different figures at .1 and .05 mm layers it seemed to show the layers much more than other resins I have used. Also, any amount of sitting caused the resin pigments to separate quickly and have a strange film over it. I've never had this issue with other resins so I was a bit confused. There was also a lingering resin smell on the figures that I have never noticed with other resins.
Not sure if anyone else has had the same experience but unfortunately this is what I ran into while working with this specific resin.
I really love this resin. It prints easily and allows impressive details, and the printed pieces are strong, but the thinner parts keep some degree of flexibility and are far less likely to break than with most resins I've used.
The only (minor) drawback I find would be using it with a flex plate. The resin flexes quite easily out of the printer, so be prepared to have to remove the model/supports from the plate the old fashioned way.
In general I've had a hard time with "durable" resins as they tend to require much larger supports, take 2x as long to print, and tend to leave more visible layer lines than rigid, more brittle resins. I have been extremely impressed with the new HeroHD. An absolutely fabulous finish, very little visible layer lines even without AA applied, insanely good durability even after 20 min of cure, and "normal" print times per layer. I was able to get this dialed in very quickly on a Saturn 3 at 2.8s for 30 micron layers, which may be overexposed but i was still getting very good prints. I will be adding this resin as a premium option for my Etsy shop in the near future, it's been excellent! Only issue I had is when my USB glitched during the process but that was entirely my printer's fault. Model is Faenir, Gunner of the Kraken by Abyssoul Miniatures.
Summary: I'm thoroughly impressed with this tough resin. It's a great balance between strength and printability making it ideal for print farms or enthusiasts who are printing dozens of models that they want to last a long time.
Detailed review:
Compared to other tough resins on the market, this tough resin has a few significant advantages.
- Faster print times including a) shorter exposure times b) shorter rest times and c) shorter lift heights.
- Much easier to support / print with. One of the major drawbacks to using tough resins is that they're typically much trickier to support and print without failures. The HERO HD resin is not like this. It has enough green strength to make supports easy to work with (auto or pre-supported).
- Nice matte finish. Most tough resins on the market appear very glossy, but this resin has a nice matte finish.
- Low viscosity. This is a Pro and Con. Pros: 1) resin reaches "rest" much faster between layers 2) it's much easier to clean. The main Con is that you'll notice slightly faster settling due to the matte additives (similar to siraya navy grey). Make sure you mix thoroughly before each print, and you'll be fine.
If you sell miniatures or are a 3D printing enthusiast that wants tough miniatures, this resin is a great option.
With respect to printing: When I first heard about 3DRS resin, I was skeptical. Fast, tough, and it preserves details? It seemed too good to be true. After printing one mini, I was definitely impressed. It is almost like the mini comes off the build plate looking exactly like the model in the slicing program! The previous resin I have used, while good, does not capture the depth and details on some parts (face, hands, etc.) that 3DRS resin does.
With respect to the resin itself: The resin is very thin, which is a double-edged sword. On one hand, the resin captures a lot of details and cures fast on the printer. On the other hand, messes are more likely to happen than with thicker resins. Just transferring some of the resin out of the bottle and into the vat led to the bottle becoming very greasy, even after wiping the mouth with an IPA soaked rag. The resin is also very odorous. It is something between menthol and normal resin. Upon lifting the printer's cover, I was hit with a wall of odor. Wearing a mask will negate this effect, but it is still apparent. The thinness of the resin also means that you need to mix it in the vat before every print. It will quickly stratify in less than 24 hours.
Overall, I am impressed and happy with the resin. It is unbelievable how much detail the resulting prints retain. I would recommend this resin, but be ready to face a few failed prints as you are adjusting your printer's settings to the resin's needs.
It is a great resin. I really like the mechanical properties for the projects I am producing. The colors are a nice selection without being overbearing, and the staff are responsive if you encounter any struggles.
Hero HD would honestly be a 5 out of 5 for me if I never tried TableTop RPG. It has pros and cons between the two so I’ll go through some.
TTRPG has a very faint chemical smell but not that noticeable. HeroHD is a stronger smell but it smells like a pine cleaning agent and isn’t bad at all.
I did find TTRPG to have its pigment settle a bit more than HeroHD but not as bad as some of the other resins out there and nothing a 30 second mix before hand doesn’t solve.
I found TTRPG to be a little more forgiving on delicate supports and HeroHD needed to have its supports altered a bit to slightly more density/size.
Flexibility I can’t see much of a difference. I know that HeroHD is supposed to be a tougher blend but, for what I print, both were equally some of the toughest resins I’ve ever tested.
If you are strictly printing minis, HeroHD is a great product but, I’d have to give my recommendation to TTRPG which is easily my favorite resin I’ve ever used

Amazing Product, the prints are phenomenal and the resin is able to bend without being too brittle like others. This will be a huge help for me when shipping custom printed minis to clients either painted, primed or unpainted! So excited to keep using this resin and dialing in the setting!
Up till now I have used the basic Elegoo grey resins for my table top gaming. But I have always had issues with parts breaking off. While other resins that claimed to be stronger or for table top gaming never seemed to get quite the same level of detail.
This resin seems to have managed to find that middle ground, where a small drop on the table doesn't send pole arms deteaching. But still manages to get that expected resin printing level of detail I have come to love.
only downside is that this one does cost more than the elegoo resins... however I am likely to save myself some money in the long run with reduced need for reprints due to breakages!!!
This is a great formulation. It requires a little modification from your standard settings, but once solved, you can reliably produce sturdy and solid prints.
