Platinum Cure Cast print and bake tips

Before you print

  • Settings assume supported prints. With supports, keep the burn in exposure at or under 15 to 20 s.
  • If you print directly on the build plate, use a short burn in of about 3 s for 5 layers with 5 transition layers.

Orientation

  • Print parts at an angle. Large flat areas facing the plate can cup and leave defects.
  • Clear resin can close small holes, most of all holes that run along the Z axis. Orient parts so critical holes do not run straight up.
  • Very small columns are hard to hold. If they fail, slow the lift speed, add a short rest and raise the exposure a little.
  • Take care with thin walls, which can distort.

Post processing (required)

  1. Wash thoroughly in IPA.
  2. Let the part dry completely, overnight or with compressed air and about 3 hours of drying. Parts that are still wet can show surface problems.
  3. UV cure for 10 to 20 minutes.
  4. Bake at 275°F (135°C) for 60 to 80 minutes in a dedicated oven or air fryer, never a kitchen oven used for food.

The bake is what lets platinum silicone cure against the printed part. Without it the silicone will stay uncured where it touches the print.

Limits

  • Made for open molds used with platinum cure silicone.
  • Not recommended for closed or injected molds. In testing, injected silicone stayed uncured even after repeated cure cycles.
