The resin

Hero HD was made for tabletop miniatures, terrain and gaming pieces that actually get played with. It's built to handle being picked up, dropped, packed in a bag and used again, without losing sharp detail.

• It's tough and a little flexible. Elongation is 30 to 35%, so weapons, fingers and thin walls bend instead of snapping.
• It prints on 365 nm, 395 nm and 405 nm printers. Viscosity is 550 to 650 cP, which flows well and holds detail on busy builds.
• Linear shrinkage is under 1%, and it takes paint well.

The Hero HD line is also thermally curable, and that part is up to you. Curing with heat makes prints tougher and cleaner, and it's becoming the preferred method for Merchant printers. Cure it with UV or heat. For heat, run it at 215 to 275°F for a minimum of one hour.

The paint

InstantEffect™ goes straight onto your print. Brush it on and you get color and shading in the same pass, because it settles into the recesses and brings out the detail you printed. It has a contrast style finish. Thicker areas give you more depth, and thin layers give you finer detail. There's no priming and no layering unless you want it.

Three ways to paint, all in one box

1. Contrast. Brush the colors straight onto the print and get color and shading in one coat. For SlapChop, the Contrast method with DryBrush White, dry brush DryBrush White over your print first to pick out the raised detail, then brush the colors over it.
2. Traditional. Blend DryBrush White into any color to make more traditional opaque colors like flesh tones and pastels.
3. Airbrush. Run the colors through your airbrush undiluted to paint or prime models fast without clogging the nozzle. Keep DryBrush White for brush work.

• 3DRS makes the resin, so we know what paint has to do to stick to a smooth printed surface. It works on resin prints, FDM models, minis and terrain.

Paint Safety and Handling

• InstantEffect paints are water based acrylics, made for hobby and miniature painting.
• Adult supervision is needed when children use these paints. Keep them out of reach of young children.
• When airbrushing, work in a well ventilated area, ideally with a spray booth. Wear a respirator or mask rated for paint mist so you do not breathe the spray.
• Avoid contact with your eyes. If paint gets in, rinse with clean water and get medical help if irritation continues.
• Wash with soap and water after handling, and before eating or drinking.
• Do not eat or drink the paint. If swallowed, rinse your mouth with water and call a doctor or poison control.
• Clean brushes and airbrushes with water before the paint dries.
• Keep caps closed tight. Store at room temperature, away from heat and freezing.
• Dispose of leftover paint and empty containers following your local rules. Please do not pour large amounts down the drain.

• Will it work on my printer? If your printer cures at 365, 395 or 405 nm, yes.

• Is a flexible resin harder to print? A little. Longer supports can flex, so brace them. In return your minis bend instead of breaking.
• Is it safe to handle? Treat it like any resin. Wear nitrile gloves and goggles, work with good ventilation, and clean prints with high purity IPA or Rhino Resin Cleaner. Don't use prints for food contact, and keep them away from anyone who might chew on them.
